Can we talk about how ruthless the Queen is? She calls Sparrow a tool and tells her to learn decorum right after ruining her life. The way she sits on that golden throne looking down on everyone is iconic villain energy. I love how (Dubbed) The Queen Saw It Through captures this toxic family dynamic perfectly.
The woman in the purple dress training Jade is terrifying. She uses magic to hurt her and calls her pathetic. The scene where she makes Jade kneel by the water under the moonlight is so tense. You can feel the hatred radiating off her. Definitely the antagonist I love to hate in this series.
My heart breaks for Sparrow. She lived in the mire for sixteen years and now they only want her for a sacrifice. The flashback to the monsters in the forest shows how hard her life was. Seeing her realize her royal blood is just a curse now is heartbreaking. She is so strong despite everything.
The cinematography in this short is stunning. From the golden phoenix throne room to the misty bamboo forest at night, every frame looks like a painting. The lighting when the Queen speaks is dramatic and moody. Even the CGI birds and monsters look surprisingly good for a mobile app show.
I did not expect the Night Wolf Clan to be asking for a princess as a sacrifice. The way the Queen just hands over her own daughter without blinking is shocking. It adds such a dark layer to the story. (Dubbed) The Queen Saw It Through really does not hold back on the cruelty of this fantasy world.
